The short version
Solar Planner has no accounts and no database. Your postcode, your inverter key, your settings and your energy history are stored only in this browser on your phone. We don't collect, keep or sell them. To work, the app has to ask a few services for data; this page lists exactly what each one receives.
What stays on your phone
- Postcode, area name and the location worked out from it
- Your panels, battery, electricity prices and appliances
- Your inverter API key
- Your usual-usage pattern, recent daily totals and the forecast-accuracy record the app learns from
You can delete all of it at any time: Settings → Remove my data from this phone. Removing the app from your home screen or clearing your browser's site data also deletes it.
What is sent, and to whom
| Service | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| postcodes.io | Your postcode, once, when you enter it. Your IP address (as with any website). | To find your approximate location. |
| Solar Planner connection server (Cloudflare) | Your inverter API key and requests for your inverter data; your location rounded to about 1 km; your IP address. | Inverter clouds and MET Norway can't be called directly from a web page. The server passes requests on. It doesn't log or store keys, data or IP addresses, apart from a short-lived counter used to stop misuse. |
| Your inverter maker's cloud (e.g. FoxESS) | Your API key and requests for your system's battery level, solar output and home usage. | To plan around your real battery and usage. Their own privacy policy applies. |
| MET Norway (via the connection server) | Your location rounded to about 1 km. Not your IP address. | Cloud-cover forecast for your area. |
| Cloudflare (hosting) | Standard web requests for the app's files, including your IP address. | To deliver the app. |
What we don't do
- No cookies, analytics, tracking or advertising.
- No profiling, and no sharing or selling of data.
- The app only reads from your inverter. It can't change your inverter's settings: the connection server only allows read-only requests.
